How Radiant Barriers Work |
|

Infrared energy from the sun strikes the shingles on your roof. When this happens, the infrared (radiant) energy is transformed into heat energy. This heat energy passes through your roofing materials through conduction. At this point, heat energy is radiated by infrared energy into your attic. Simply stated, the roofing materials exposed to your attic have become a large infrared heat source.
Applying our radiant barrier effectively reduces attic temperatures. When attic temperatures are reduced, the loading on your air conditioning system is reduced. And when your air conditioner is not working as hard, or as often, your electric bill is reduced. Typical savings average 15 to 20% of your total air conditioning costs.
Radiant Barriers provide the same protection on exterior walls. When applied to exterior walls the heat reduction lowers summer cooling costs, makes the room more enjoyable and helps to protect the siding from heat as well.
Radiant Barriers also work on interior surfaces. A radiant barrier can be applied to any painted surface with dramatic effects. Is one room of your home of office alway hotter then the rest? Radiant Barrier can be applied to the exterior or interior walls to reduce the heat loads in problem areas. Why not call today for a free estimate?
